Description

Jean M. Twenge's thesis is that today's youth are radically different from those of past generations. Born in the early 2000s, they have grown up in an era dominated by connectivity, with a close relationship to smartphones (especially iPhones) and social networks. Despite being more open and attentive, they are also more anxious and unhappy than previous generations. Twenge argues that these young people exhibit evident immaturity and infantilism: they consume less alcohol, use fewer drugs, and engage in less sexual activity, but at the same time, they are less prepared to face the challenges of real life, even teetering on the edge of an unprecedented existential crisis.
